Finn aka FN-2187

Uhm... hello? [Voice comes first as Finn fumbles with the primitive device, and gets used to it, but he manages to get the video up and running, revealing a mid-twenties man with rich chocolate colored skin, and intense eyes staring out at the camera. He is worried, and he shows it, he knows.]

So, ah, I'm new here, and my name is Finn, and... ah, I'm from a galaxy far, far, away, apparently. [He is nervous, and it shows, as he runs his hands over each other, over and over. He is not used to public speaking and he feels very on display now. But he forces himself to keep speaking.]

Does anyone out there come from the universe where the Empire and the Rebellion fought, and the Resistance and First Order fight now?

[What else was he going to ask? Oh yes! He leans forward to speak.] And can anyone recommend a place to work that could use someone who works hard? Thanks.

[He's about to shut the device off when his most important question occurs to him and he leans in toward the camera, and speaks urgently.] Oh! And does anyone here know someone by the name of Rey?

[And he flicks off the camera, and sighs in relief.]

Canon Character Information
Appearance: Of middling height, with midnight black skin, a solid square build, and large hands and feet, and large ears. He has scars on his back, or will, after his encounter with the lightsaber. Otherwise, he has callouses on feet consistent with standing and marching a lot, and on the hands consistent of using a blaster.

Personality: When not under stress, Finn tends to be the sort of solid follow-orders, go-where-he-is-pointed kind of guys that make for good soldiers. When actually confronted with the reality of war, Finn found he did not like it, and did not want any part of any kind of fighting. He came to hate fighting, and the idea of taking a life was violently against his wishes.

That said, he also eventually found that there was something, or someone, he would kill for. Rey. In the woman he met on the desert planet Jakku, he found someone to believe in, someone to inspire him, someone to want to protect and stand by. She was tougher than him, by far, and he knew she needed no rescuing, but the idea of her coming to harm led to him being filled with fear and a sharp pain that cut through him.

Finn was also plagued occasionally by panic attacks and fear, whenever he had a chance to realize how bad things were, and those traits were enough to lead him to almost abandon his friends. Even Rey. They shook him to the core and stole his courage, his hope, and his ability to think. Only sighting Rey in actual peril, and realizing she could be hurt, jerked him out of the situation.

Finn was protective of those he cared about and who were in his care, even before he left the stormtrooper service. He protected weaker members of his group, trying to help them improve, and was called down for it. He could show bravery, intensity, and passion, when there was something or someone he focused on, instead of himself.

Finn hates drawing attention to himself, and gets very nervous when he has to speak up to others. He likes being given compliments, but not having to do things in public to earn them.

Powers/Abilities/Talents: As a stormtrooper, Finn consistently scored top marks in his training and was seen as someone who could become an ideal First Order trooper. His First Order training made him an effective marksman with a high kill rate.

Despite a lack of training, he had the ability to wield a lightsaber in combat. He was able to hold his own against a stormtrooper with a riot baton, and despite being defeated, managed to inflict a shoulder wound on the more experienced Kylo Ren. Headcanon: Finn is force sensitive, but it is mostly latent, buried far deeper than normal, due to his stormtrooper conditioning.
